CarterMatt Quick Hits: Bloodline season 3 trailer, Will & Grace revival poster; no Donald Trump on Ellen

Will & Grace revival

In kicking off today’s edition of CarterMatt Quick Hits, let’s dive into the realm of revivals! We know that enthusiasm is at a peak at the moment for the new iteration of Will & Grace over at NBC, and we do think that the poster above for the show is fun in terms of showing you that the revival is coming, but not really giving you anything else other than one key word: “Fall.”

The fact that the network will be putting this ten-episode revival on the air then is a perfect indicator that they want to goo all-in when it comes to ensuring that they have some winning comedies soon. NBC may have some critical darlings like The Good Place, but they continue having a hard time drawing big ratings for any of them. Superstore is probably their most successful show in the genre, and we’d say that its ratings are decent for them at best.

While it just seems like the Will & Grace revival at the moment is going to be a one-time thing, this is really one of those occasions where you never quite know for sure one way or another what is going to happen if the ratings are big. The only thing that you can really hope is that it’s entertaining.

As for some other news on the day…

Ellen effectively bans Donald Trump from her show – This may follow a little bit into “go figure” news, given that it’s the sort of thing that you could have seen coming. While speaking with Matt Lauer on NBC’s The Today Show (which was actually filmed on the set of her own show), she made it clear that she has no interest in having the President on her show. Specifically, she says that the main reason for that is because she’s convinced that nothing would be accomplished out of the interview and he stands for everything that she doesn’t believe in.

Ellen is not the only person to say that she wouldn’t welcome the President on a show; Seth Meyers recently said the same thing, which led in turn to Trump bashing him for supposedly “low ratings.” (We learned years ago from doing conference calls with Trump that he doesn’t understand ratings.)

Bloodline season 3 trailer – If you are intrigued by the return of the Rayburn family, you can see some of that play out in this new trailer, which you can watch over on YouTube. (There is some strong language within, so be warned.)

As always, we welcome your thoughts on this story below! (Photo: NBC.)
