Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders ratings help make case for season 3

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders ratings

Let’s begin today with some good news regarding the latest Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders ratings; after all, these may give you a little hope!

Last night’s new episode, which featured a trip off to “Taiwan” (or Taiwan via Los Angeles), ended up posting a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic per the latest preliminary viewing figures. This ties the show’s season high, and it actually tied with the much-hyped Designated Survivor in the demo and beat it in total viewers.

While we don’t think anyone is going to drop a celebratory banner over a 0.9 rating, it’s solid these days for CBS in this timeslot. We’ll repeat this time and time again, but there is very little downside to ordering a third season of the show. You have a good inkling how it’s going to fare in the ratings, and it’s a perfect TV safety net for if some of your other programming bombs. Maybe you can question if it gets a season 4, but that’s something to wonder twelve months for now.

To the folks at CBS: Just go ahead and renew the show. Give it 10-13 episodes, and then worry about when to premiere it down the road. Its ratings are only slightly behind the Code Black averages, and that show has the advantage of airing in the fall.

What the [bleep] happened to Empire?

Remember when this show was one of the biggest runaway hits on TV? Well, last night it drew just a 1.8 rating, and it had to share the #1 show of the night title with Survivor: Game Changers. We have spoken here and there about its ratings drop this season, but compared to the falling ratings elsewhere, it’s become the ratings cream rising to the top. This is why we don’t see it going anywhere in the near future.

Speaking of falling ratings for a moment, who else is shocked to see Modern Family at a 1.6? The more we look at the numbers, the more it’s clear that fewer and fewer people care about watching TV live anymore.

Your Blindspot update

For those who are tracking its own renewal hopes, last night’s episode was steady with a 0.9. Meanwhile, Law & Order: SVU drew in total a 1.0, which is down from its own recent rating.
