Do you want a Taken season 2 on NBC? (Vote in the poll!)

Following tonight’s finale, are you interested in a Taken season 2? It’s the perfect question to ask, and there is more of this story.

At present, the only thing that we can say is that NBC has not made the show’s future official one way or another, and the ratings are at present certainly in the middle of on-the-bubble territory. To date, the Clive Standen series is averaging a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a number that may look better than it actually is thanks to some solid numbers the first couple of weeks. More recently, we’ve seen ratings in the 0.8-1.0 range, though the show is still routinely getting more than 4 million viewers.

One of the things that does probably benefit this show the most is simply that it’s got a pretty short run, and because of its franchise name it’s one that the network can program almost anywhere and get a little bit of attention. There are some DVR ratings that are out there that help the show, and you can’t discount at this point everything from streams to international sales. Known properties do tend to sell well overseas, and many viewers are familiar with the brand thanks to the feature films.

One other thing that may prove to be an asset for Taken is that it has connections to NBCUniversal from a production side of things. More often than not, shows that are produced in-house do have a tendency to draw better numbers than shows that are produced externally. NBC can profit off of this show easier than others, and we do have to look at this matter to a certain point as one that is all about numbers and cents. We wish it didn’t have to be taken to that granular a level, but TV is a business. They care about that more than they do story.

Ultimately, we should learn about a potential Taken season 2 at around the time we get to upfronts later this month, so keep your eyes peeled for further news.
