Absentia news: On Stana Katic, Neil Jackson, latest teaser photo
The former Sleepy Hollow actor is going to be one of the important players in the new season, and while he of course has to be coy on the overall story for this super-mysterious Sony AXN project, there are some quotes that he has over at StarsQA that make for an interesting read.
On his character, who is the sister of Stana Katic’s long-vanished FBI agent – “Jack was once a well respected surgeon. However he was stripped of his license after struggling with alcoholism. When we meet Jack he is two years sober and starting to get his life back on track. But when his sister is found alive, Jack’s life starts to spiral again. He’s a deeply complex character who was beautifully written. It was an exciting challenge getting to know him.”
It makes some sense that seeing his sister back could send Jack into a hard place. He’ll be happy of course to see her, but it is difficult when you consider just how difficult a process it must have been to get over losing her. She was a key component of his life, and he now has to figure out if this is the same sister that he even still remembers.
On working with Katic – “Stana is a very smart, courageous and talented actress. She committed herself to every second of this character. It’s was very impressive and inspirational to watch her work.”
Nothing but praise here, not that we’re all that surprised given what we know about Katic already as a performer.
The latest photo teaser
Earlier today, the show tweeted out the image below. While the specific location is a little difficult to analyze (for whatever reason our first thought was a dance studio with the location of the doors), the caption of “I saw them, just the other day” seems to be a first-person account presumably from Katic’s character. Given that she doesn’t know what happened to her in the time she was missing, it makes sense that she presumes that very little time has passed when she is first found in a cabin.
