Are you looking for a White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2017 live stream? If so, you don’t have to look any further!
Below, you can watch courtesy of the fine folks at C-SPAN a stream for the majority of the main events at the dinner this year, which include a presentation from The Daily Show correspondent and comedian Hasan Minhaj. This event is rather interesting for a number of different reasons this year, with one of the big ones being that neither President Trump nor his administration will be in attendance. Trump has of course been an outspoken critic of the “fake news” media during the campaign, and while we do understand that not every publication out there is refutable, his decision to not attend and routinely blast the press takes away significantly from the brave work that many journalists do.
Just remember for a minute here that while there are nasty tabloid reporters, there are also people working all hours of the day on small salaries to uncover the truth, and those who risk their lives by traveling to war-torn areas of the world to report on what things are really like. Without quality reporting, there would be no proper balance in the world.
Also, Trump holding a rally tonight in Pennsylvania is him further thumbing his nose at the press, since he’s deliberately taking time away from their gala and forcing many of them to cover this instead. (For the record, it’s pretty shameful that some outlets will give this press over focusing on honoring heroes within their own industry.)
Now that we have thrown much of this out there, let’s get back to the comedy. We imagine that there will be many different jokes out there on Trump and the administration, and also some on the media to go along with it.
In addition to the real Correspondents’ Dinner tonight (the bulk of the good stuff should start at around 9:30 p.m. Eastern), Samantha Bee (a former Daily Show correspondent now hosting Full Frontal over on TBS) will be hosting her own Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner special starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
Just in case you are eager to see more of our coverage of the big dinner a little bit later tonight, rest assured that we’ll have that for you over at the link here. Let’s hope that this special is as entertaining as we hope. (Photo: C-SPAN.)
