Following tonight’s finale, should there be an APB season 2 renewal by Fox? We know there will be people asking for it.
Specifically, the police drama (with a tech twist) is wrapping up its twelve-episode first season with an installment tonight that will hopefully prove to be satisfying, especially given the fact that it could end up serving as the series finale for the series overall. After all, if you were just to look at the pure ratings themselves for the show, they won’t be the sort of thing that inspires a whole lot of confidence. The series drew on average a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is lower than 24: Legacy, Gotham, or Lucifer, which are the three other shows that aired throughout the season on Monday night.
If there is a silver lining that you can offer to APB in looking at its ratings, it’s that the show did a good job of getting these numbers without a heck of a lot of promotion. It also has a title that makes it effectively look like yet another generic cop show in a sea of them. There are so many more of them out there that have a hook that is a little bit more recognizable than anything that you had a chance to see here. It just doesn’t do the show justice in that sense, since there are aspects of it that are unique and interesting.
The show should figure out its fate for certain by early May, given that this is when Fox will hold their annual upfront presentation in New York City and confirm what their upcoming schedule will be. with shows that are this much on the bubble, the only thing that we can offer is to have patience and low expectations. If you expect the worst, then maybe there is a slight chance that some good news will end up being handed down.
If it doesn’t work out, then maybe you’ll at least get a chance to see some of the cast members popping up elsewhere for some other series. We have to think that there will be some people in demand.
What do you think: Should APB be renewed here for a second season? We want to hear from you in either the comments or the poll below! (If you’re unable to see the poll, you may need to select the non-AMP version of the page at the bottom of the window.)
Once we do have some further news on the subject, we’ll be sure to send some of it over your way. (Photo: Fox.)
