Are you ready for Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders season 2 episode 9 to come on the air already? We hope so, given that we’re here to offer up a first look at “Blowback,” which is the next new episode of the show airing in one week.
What makes this case a little bit different from the result is that it seems as though the International Response Team is going to be in the odd position of being investigated more so than them being the ones doing the investigating themselves. Also, it’s possible that the entirety of the case takes place stateside, with some flashbacks potentially to somewhere else.
Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders season 2 episode 9 synopsis – “The International Response Team is investigated by the FBI after a mission in Kurjikistan results in the death of a suspect.”
What’s also interesting about this episode is that Kurjikistan isn’t actually a place. We’re not sure if the writers here are referring to Kyrgyzstan in Asia next to Kazakhstan, or they are simply making up a place — hey, that does happen here and there with shows. One of the main reasons to do that here is mostly that the majority of the show’s content is likely not about the location here so much as it is the character and what the IRT is going to be forced to dealing with.
While there may be many cases that the team has encountered over time that are important in terms of killers and stakes, this one could impact the future of these agents’ careers more so than almost any other. It’s exciting! You need to find ways to shake up the mold here and there if you do want to ensure that viewers are engaged. That is especially important when you think for a minute about the show’s bubble status going into a potential season 3. CBS still has a little bit of time in order to properly determine what they want to do with the show.
