Call the Midwife season 6 episode 3 spoilers: (PBS): Shelagh’s big story
The episode tonight is going to be a significant one for many different reasons, especially in how it is going to symbolize a little bit of passage. We’ve just had one character depart, and some others may be making some significant decisions of their own over the course of this episode. We don’t want to say too much, but we’ll go ahead and offer up some teasers regarding what to expect right now.
1. Shelagh’s got the good news now about her pregnancy, but the unfortunate thing is that she often spends too much time caring for others and often forgets to care for herself in the process. This is something that could end up rearing its head and becoming a problem for her over the course of this hour.
2. Given that she just departed, it’s pretty fair to say that you shouldn’t expect to see Patsy in this episode. If you did, it would certainly soften the blow of her exit and make it appear almost meaningless. We love Patsy, but you also want there to be a certain degree of power within departures so that they don’t just fall completely off the radar.
3. Barbara is going to be intent on giving one of her patients the best care possible, but she will run into a major problem when new rules from Sister Ursula are going to impede on how much time she can spend with them.
4. Sister Ursula will make a big decision of her own on her future.
5. Cultural traditions will be a key component in this week’s story-of-the-week plot, which works well for us given that this is the sort of story that we do think that Call the Midwife really excels at. They take on some of these generational / cultural conflicts in a way that very few other people do effectively.
