Chicago Med season 2 episode 20 sneak peek: Dr. Halstead’s father arrives

Chicago Med season 2 episode 20 sneak peek

The Chicago Med season 2 episode 20 sneak peek that we’ve got for you below is certainly emotional. In addition to that, it sets a pretty strong foundation for what is going to be the story at the center of Thursday night’s new episode entitled “Generation Gap.”

We’ve known over time from Chicago PD that Jay Halstead and his father don’t have the best relationship in the world. Seeing him interact with Will Halstead in this preview (courtesy of TV Guide) gives you a pretty good sense as to why. This is a man who is as stubborn as a mule. He’s not open to listening to many suggestions as to how to treat him, and is seemingly more intent to just do what he wants regardless of what anyone around him chooses to say on the subject.

With this in mind, the elder Halstead enters Chicago Med without a gurney, and refuses to suggest that anything is that wrong with him. The data, however, shows otherwise, which causes him to complain further about how life in this instance isn’t quite fair.

We do applaud Will for having the wherewithal to know that him trying to treat his own father without outside help is a terrible move; he’s emotionally invested, and maybe some of his reaction to this here is precipitated by what happened with his former mentor earlier this year. He seems more inclined here to let Dr. Rhodes take the lead, but to analyze closely as to what is going on. (For the record, we know that Connor spending some time with Will’s father will cause him to think back to his own past and family history in an interesting way.)

In general, get ready for an emotional episode about family, healing, and having trust in other generations of people. There may be few other installments quite like it.

New episodes of Chicago Med will go on a brief hiatus after this installment airs. When the show does return near the end of the month, you’ll get a chance to see the final episodes in succession before the finale airs.
