(Adjust accordingly depending on your location.) The show was renewed for another season a little ways back, and we get the sense that this remains a show Freeform is committed to for the long haul. Even if it’s not their highest-rated series, it touches on important issues and features fantastic performances across the board. We’re especially going to get that from Maia Mitchell tonight as Callie contemplates her future while facing prison time.

As for what The Fosters will be paired with, Switched at Birth is ending tonight. With that, the show will help to launch a new drama entitled The Bold Type at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. It’s common strategy for Freeform or any other series to try and use established properties in an effort to help launch new hits. There’s nothing altogether unusual about what the network is trying to do here.

Will The Fosters season 5 be the final season? Hopefully not, but it’s probably wrong to start speculating on that now given that we’ve got plenty of time to touch on all of that.
