AMC’s The Son episode 2 promo: Aftermath of the attack

The Son episode 2

Following tonight’s premiere, The Son episode 2 is going to continue down a road where we see two timelines, changing emotions, and also hopefully an unlocking of some of the show’s central mysteries. We’re viewing the show without knowledge of the source material, so some of the fun that comes with that is seeing how there are many interesting questions still out there to be answered. For example, how did Eli go from being around the Comanches in 1849 to being a powerful man with a large family in 1915? There’s a lot of time in between there, and it’s clear that this is not a man who lived an ordinary life by any means.

Now, let’s go ahead and share a few more details regarding what’s coming up.

The Son episode 2 synopsis – “Young Eli must learn how to live among the Comanches in 1849. In 1915, Eli and Pete clash over how to respond to an unexpected attack on their home.”

Our hope as we get further along is that these two storylines start to inform each other in new, interesting ways. Having the show utilize this device is such a challenge, given that for some shows, it gets distracting when one storyline is clearly better than the other. Take a look at Arrow, or the first season and a half of Quantico. It’s not the easiest thing in the world to figure out.

To go along with this synopsis, AMC also released something else that we certainly welcome in the first official promo for the remainder of the season. This is one of those things that features so much in such a short period of time that it’s hard to focus on any one element of it. Yet, it remains clear that there is going to be significant storytelling ahead on both sides, as you see a young Eli try to get accustomed to his new surroundings. Meanwhile, a much older Eli will have to figure out how to keep his surroundings from palling apart. It’s an interesting plurality in that way.
