Outlander season 3 finale script work, Sam Heughan, and more

Outlander season 3 finale script

Happy Saturday! In today’s Outlander notes we’re looking at everything from the Outlander season 3 finale script nearing completion to a pair of stories pertaining to both Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe.

First, the script – Let’s start with the story that does revolve more so around the script for the finale than anything else. In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer Matthew B. Roberts commented that he just wrapped up the final part of the script for the finale. With that, he now gets to the proofreading stage, and the cast and crew will start work before long filming to make all of it translate to screen.

Filming is taking place these days in South Africa, where it will continue until June. As a result of Roberts’ writing process, it’s fair to say that the majority of the episode is to be filmed there. (Maybe they picked up bits and pieces back in Scotland, but it’s hard to speculate on such things.)

One thing we are rather excited to learn in particular is the title for the finale, given that Outlander is one of those shows where they put stock into every little thing. Names matter here, and that adds to the excitement.

Now, some other highlights – For Sam Heughan, today was a chance to take in another rugby match! He’s an avid fan of the sport, and shared the following video on his own official Twitter page. What be surprising to some as that even as an American we’ve attended a few rugby matches without even going overseas — it was a long time ago, but it was a fascinating experience since we feel like the perception of it among Americans is just that it’s some modified football. Not the case. AT ALL.

Meanwhile, for those of you looking for an update on Balfe’s status from the IFTA Awards earlier today, unfortunately show lost out in the Best Actress in a Drama to Amy Huberman from Striking Out. Many congratulations to her! Here’s to hoping that Caitriona gets another shot at some point in the future — we certainly know that the material will continue to be there for her for many years to come, and her performance in season 2 was extraordinary.

As always, we welcome some of your thoughts on this story in the attached comments!
