The Originals season 4 episode 5 spoilers: Joseph Morgan’s Klaus vs. dark magic

On The Originals season 4 episode 5 next week, you’re going to get a further reminder of one thing when it comes to Joseph Morgan’s character of Klaus Mikaelson — life is never easy for him. The guy spent the better part of five years locked away in a coffin, and he’s now going to find himself under the influence of some powerful, dangerous dark magic. This is the sort of thing that could put him and Marcel both in a dangerous, difficult position — while the good news is that they’ll be suffering a similar affliction (maybe it will bring the two parties a little bit further together?), the bad news is that they may cause way too much damage to the point where they’re not even able to be effective around each other.

As per usual with this show, there is a little bit more going on beyond even just that … and we’ve got some further news all about it now below!

The Originals season 4 episode 5 synopsis – “After being marked by The Hollow’s dark magic, both Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) experience the symptoms of a malevolent haunting, forcing the two adversaries on a violent collision course. Meanwhile, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) head out to speak with Mary (guest star Debra Mooney) after Hayley uncovers a mysterious link between the dark magic and her former wolf pack. Finally, as an exhausted Freya (Riley Voelkel) risks her own life to cure Klaus’ infection, a guilt-ridden Keelin (guest star Christina Moses) must decide whether to honor her Hippocratic oath and help Freya – or flee the Mikaelsons forever.”

One of the big things that we’re interested in seeing here is how Keelin reacts to the situation that she’s in, given that it’s a pretty impossible situation. Doctors have long had an interesting role to play within the Originals / Vampire Diaries universe. They have a job to do, but how badly do you want to help bad people? It’s an ethical struggle, and there are certainly parallels to real-life situations all over the place here, ones that do not involve any supernatural stuff at all.
