The Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC is in the process of pilot production, and there are a wide array of exciting castings that are happening at the moment.
One of the latest ones ties back to a name that you may know very well already in Raymond Cruz. Per a report from The Hollywood Reporter, The Major Crimes star, who is also known for his role playing Tuco on Breaking Bad, is going to be playing a major part on the pilot episode being filmed in the Salton Sea region. Specifically, his role will be that of Che “Padre” Romero, a character who helps to oversee some members of the Mayans club and tries to keep them from descending into utter mayhem at times.
In the event that Mayans MC ends up becoming a full-fledged series, you are going to be seeing Cruz recur throughout the first season.
For those wondering as to whether or not this could impede with his work on Major Crimes proper, don’t worry too much about it. Given that he is a regular on that show in the role of Sanchez, he won’t be departing there anytime soon. Consider this for a time being an opportunity to see him take on a wide array of different roles. We also figure that we could still see Tuco stop by on Better Call Saul at some point in the future, given that he has already turned up there on a couple of occasions.
For the record, we do feel very much confident that Mayans MC is going to be finding its way to the FX schedule. The original Sons of Anarchy proved itself to be one of the biggest hits in the history of the network, and creator Kurt Sutter still has a devoted following from his work on that show, The Shield, and The Bastard Executioner. He’s taken his time developing the series with Elgin James, and we do think that this is very much one of those situations where slow and steady can very much be what wins the race … or at least wins plenty of viewers and an audience in your favor.
