Arrowverse ‘ships: on SuperFlash, Kara and Barry (Supergirl, The Flash)
Today, we’re continuing our journey through the Arrowverse and some of the various ‘ships associated with it, and we’re specifically talking about a pair in Kara Danvers and Barry Allen who’ve become more and more popular over the past few weeks. They’re called SuperFlash for a reason! They’re fun, they’re passionate, and they can relate to each other in ways that nobody else can.
That doesn’t mean that the two parties have to be together romantically, but we do absolutely see where some of the passion comes from. Within this article, we do want to take a closer look at what makes the relationship between the two characters from Supergirl and The Flash work, and also some of what makes the two of them the sort of characters that people see in a different light beyond a friendship.
Their history so far – They’ve both saved each other from danger, and in different ways — Barry lent Kara a helping hand in order to ensure that Silver Bansee and Livewire did not destroy National City, while in turn Kara helped Barry and everyone on Earth-1 ensure that the Dominators did nothing to further desecrate the world.
Why there is some movement behind the ‘ship – As we’ve mentioned, these are two characters who share a unique experience that nobody else does — they’ve saved their cities, and they’re coming to terms with the fact that they have these immense powers that make them so different from almost everyone else out there. There’s also something fun about a relationship going between two different shows, since it offers up a few more reasons for crossovers and gives most fans something else to be looking forward to.
Will it happen? – Not so much. We do understand the support for SuperFlash just because the two are such a beacon of positive energy, and there is even a fun mental picture of the two of them going off to fight crime and then come home to each other at the end of the day. Yet, we’re pretty sure that Barry and Iris are meant to be on The Flash. We’re a little less sure regarding the future of Kara and Mon-El, just because of the state that they’re in on Supergirl at the moment.
