Falling Water renewed for season 2 by USA; Lizzie Brocheré fans rejoice
In a statement today, Chris McCumber, President of Entertainment Networks at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, had the following to say about picking up the series, which stars Lizzie Brocheré (American Horror Story) and many others, for additional episodes:
“Falling Water turns the traditional dramatic thriller on its head by tapping into the power of something we all have access to: dreams … We look forward to continuing this bold, completely unique story.”
Meanwhile, Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer at NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, had the following to add about not only the renewal, but also the arrival of Falling Skies alum Rémi Aubuchon as the new showrunner.
“With its striking visuals and stylized narrative, Falling Water creates a world where dreams have a dramatic impact on reality … Gale [Anne Hurd] and Blake [Masters] executed a thought-provoking and resonant first season. We’re delighted to welcome Rémi to the creative team – and we can’t wait to see where he takes us next.”
Through season 1, the series’ biggest problem was simply finding a way for people to watch. The ratings just weren’t there for much of the first run, but there is still hope. This is a show that could easily pick up a streaming audience if viewers were to hear about it, and a robust new deal with Amazon may be one of the reasons that the renewal happened in the first place. These deals are incredible smart for cable networks in a Peak TV era with so many options. It’s reminiscent in a way of how Nashville is able to leverage both CMT and also Hulu in order to bring in the most viewers possible.
New episodes of Falling Water season 2 are expected to premiere a little bit later this year. It’s a little early to say a whole lot more, but this is something to keep in mind over the course of the coming weeks.

The ratings were a disaster(I think they were a 0.14) and this gets renewed? i am stunned. These clowns renewing crap like this would be flipping burgers if this was 5 years ago. How can USA not renew Colony for a 16 episode season for next year if they bring back a ratings disaster like this?
