Criminal Minds season 12 episode 19 spoilers: Joe Mantegna’s ‘True North’
Criminal Minds season 12 episode 19 synopsis – “The BAU is called after three victims are found tied to stakes in the Arizona desert.”
One thing notable about the episode is that it does mark the second appearance from Joe Mantegna as director this season. This is a role he’s grown more and more comfortable with over time, and we’re starting to see it be a pattern that he does one or two episodes a season. It’s hard for an actor to do more than that given that taking on this role is a lot of work to go along with being an actor. Typically, the people who choose to do this do so because of it being a labor of love.
So why not release more information? This is just the way that CBS tends to do things with this show. They don’t often give you much information, though to be fair sometimes it’s hard to give a lot. If this is one of those episodes where almost the entire hour is based on the case, what more information is there to really give?
This episode will be the final one before the show goes yet again on hiatus through some of the month of April. It will return near the end of the month, when it will air the first of the final three episodes of the season. Hopefully, by the time those episodes air there is more insight into the future of Criminal Minds beyond this season. It was one of the few series not properly renewed at the time the network released a statement last week. While we do continue to expect to see the show back, there is no guarantee now that it will be. This is something that you may not have a for-sure answer until the May upfronts, but we’ll continue to hold out hope that the answer turns up sooner.
