Dancing with the Stars 24: Maksim Chmerkovskiy injured in rehearsal

Maksim Chmerkovskiy injured

When Dancing with the Stars airs its performance show episode on ABC Monday night, there is going to be one thing that is rather different about it: One of the pros taking part.

Earlier today on Good Morning America, it was confirmed that Maksim Chmerkovskiy injured himself while rehearsing his jive with partner Heather Morris. As a result of that, he’s going to be missing from at least tonight’s new episode of the show. Injuries associated with the show are fairly common, and it doesn’t quite matter if you are talking about either for the celebrities or the pros.

Luckily, the show is prepared in these sort of situations so that someone else can step in and lend a helping hand. Alan Bersten is going to be performing with Heather tonight, and presumably until Maks gets better. He is still expected to be in the studio tonight cheering them on.

Given that Morris is heavily favored by many to win this season of the show, you can certainly argue that this injury could hinder her ability to make it to the end of the show in some way. Personally, we do think that this adversity won’t slow her down too much; as a matter of fact, there is something to be said sometimes for adversity in the ballroom being a good thing. The more you are challenged in the early going, the more you’re prepared for the adversity a little bit later in the show.

More than anything, though, our biggest hope is just that Maks ends up being okay and will be able to dance again before too long. He’s one of the most-noteworthy pros on the show, and as a result of that, he’s someone you do want to see out there performing. That is especially true this season, given that he’s got the best chance of winning the season that he’s had ever since he performed on the season with Meryl Davis.
