Real Housewives of Atlanta preview: Phaedra Parks’ divorce party aftermath

On this past episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, we had what certainly qualifies as one of the more uncomfortable situations of the season. We’re not sure why Kenya Moore felt the need to throw everyone some sort of “divorce party” in honor of what Cynthia Bailey and Phaedra Parks were going through, but she did it. Suffice it to say, it was not well-received … especially by Cynthia and Phaedra.

The preview below from Sunday night’s new episode of the series is mostly all about reflecting on all of the craziness that went down as a result of that, and how Phaedra just didn’t feel comfortable celebrating something that was all about the end of a family. She makes it clear that she is comfortable talking about the subject with Cynthia just because she understands the difficulties of divorce more so than anyone else. Phaedra’s divorce is finalized, and while she can be congratulated about the end of the process, there’s a difference between happy about the end of a process and then also making a spectacle of the whole thing.

This is where we also think that the optics of being on a television show start to come into play a little bit. You don’t want to come across as throwing a party on TV over your marriage falling apart, since there’s a good chance that someday your kids or going to see that and have to relive it. It’s not an easy situation for them to be around or to experience after the fact.

In the end, Phaedra questions Kenya’s motives, which we don’t think personally were all that sinister. she probably just wanted to be at the center of a big TV moment, given that this is a show where these sort of things are a huge part of the overall fabric.
