You’re going to see a significant amount of time on next week’s new episode “Hostages” spent watching the journey unfold for Tom Keen and Scottie Hargrave, which is important since him keeping the secret of who he is happens to be integral to the work that he wants to do on Howard’s behalf. Without that secret, it’s possible that he won’t get the answers that he so desperately seeks.
Take a look at some further news below via NBC, as you’ll get a good sense as to the procedural element into the story ahead.
The Blacklist: Redemption episode 6 synopsis – “When a wealthy businessman, his wife and young son are abducted by professional kidnappers, the Halcyon team is tasked to get the family back. But with time running out, the team must make a dangerous choice. Meanwhile, Tom (Ryan Eggold) risks exposure to save Howard (Terry O’Quinn) from Scottie (Famke Janssen).”
If we’re going to have a procedural element still on the show, we do appreciate one with the sort of stakes that we’re getting here. However, we will also say that it’s hard to get that hooked on these for a story with only eight episodes. We’ve said this before, and we’ll say it again — with an episode order this short, we wish that the show was focusing more on the main characters and the central arc over people we don’t care about as much.
This is especially true given where we are right now in the story — at the end of tonight’s episode, we saw Mr. Solomon cart off Howard, right when Tom was starting to get some of the information he was seeking so desperately.
