TV Madness 2017: Sherlock and The Fall face off in Round Two

Sherlock season 4

For today’s edition of our TV Madness 2017 series, we’re going abroad! Both of the entries today in Sherlock and The Fall are both from the United Kingdom. One films in Wales and England, and the other in Northern Ireland. They’re both fantastic dramas, and this is one of the biggest things that they have in common.

Will Sherlock be able to represent in the way that #1 seeds like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead have not in this tournament? That’s something that we’re going to be looking at further in this particular battle. Voting here will remain open until March 24, when the winner will face off against who comes on top in tomorrow’s showdown.

Sherlock (#1 seed) – Despite being a #1 seed, this ended up being a pretty hard-fought battle in which it barely emerged over Z Nation, which had 47% oft he vote as a whole. It’s got its work cut out for it here given that fans of Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan are often very quick to rally support behind a show featuring the actors. We do think still that Sherlock has a lot going for it in terms of being an entry in this tournament. Namely, it’s a smart, sophisticated series that features great performers at the center of it.

The Fall (#5 seed) – The victory here was a little more substantial for The Fall versus NCIS, and it has that to hang its hat on. In theory, though, this should prove to be a more challenging showdown given that fans of NCIS, despite being all over the world, don’t tend to rally behind the show in these sort of tournaments. This is the final year of eligibility for The Fall here, so what you have to hope for if you’re supporting it is that other fans, whether they love the show or the actors in it, decide to rally behind the show as a way of giving it a last hurrah!

That’s all we got for this edition of TV Madness! We now turn this over to you, where you can select your favorite in the poll below! You can vote however often you like; if you cannot see the poll, we recommend scrolling down and clicking to view the non-AMP version of the page. If you’ve already voted and want to do so again, our advice is to either clear your cache or use a different browser or device. (BBC One)
