Talking Dead lineup: Christian Serratos, Steven Ogg to discuss ‘The Other Side’

Christian Serratos -

Here’s something odd for Talking Dead tonight — an installment following a potentially-big Walking Dead hour that isn’t keeping their guest lineup a secret! Christian Serratos (Rosita) and Steven Ogg (Simon) are both going to be there to discuss “The Other Side.”

Here’s a hot take — is Simon anyone else’s favorite new character of the season? We’d take him over Negan (who we still technically consider new), and while we’re fond of Dwight, there’s something about Ogg’s character that is specifically magnetic and worth watching.

One other thing that is especially worth noting about tonight’s episode is the start time — it’ll be on after 11:00 p.m. Eastern, mostly because of AMC choosing to launch the premiere of Into the Badlands season 2 after the zombie drama. It’s controversial to say the least — while it angers a lot of people and there are probably some people who won’t watch Into the Badlands as a result of that, there are probably other people who’ve turned out to rather love that show who may not have ever watched it otherwise. It’s a bit of a necessary evil — you want quality TV to get exposure, but in this instance, it’s coming at the expense of something else.

Then again, and as we suggested earlier in our Walking Dead preview, it does feel like we have a whole lot worse problems in the world right now than us not getting to watch Talking Dead when we want to watch it. We’re in the age of DVRs and streaming. Odds are, if you have the ability to watch Talking Dead on AMC, you’ll have a way to watch it after the fact if you have to go to bed before it comes on. The world’s not going to tilt off its axis or anything.

There are only three episodes of Talking Dead coming up this season, but remember that Chris Hardwick is going to continue to have a talk show on AMC even in the weeks that there is no Walking Dead or Fear the Walking Dead on the air. As for how he’s going to be pulling that off … androids? Your theory’s as good as ours.
