A Gilmore Girls season 9 revival possible, says Netflix boss

Gilmore Girls season 9 -

Apparently, a Gilmore Girls season 9 revival may be a little closer to a reality than anyone first thought.

Speaking recently in a new interview with the Press Association out of the UK, Netflix head Ted Sarandos made it clear that they are in the process of talking about more episodes with executive producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino:

“We hope [it comes about]. We obviously loved the success of the show [and] fans loved how well it was done; it delivered what they hoped. The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favorite show to come back and for it to disappoint you, but [the execs] sure delivered and people were really excited about more — and we have been talking to them about the possibility of that.”

Now will, it happen? The enthusiasm for a Gilmore Girls season 9 is clearly there, and you add to this the fact that this is a show that does have a devoted following out there for it already. The biggest thing that holds it back are other commitments. For example, Alexis Biedel has The Handmaid’s Tale, Lauren Graham has a new pilot, and Sherman-Palladino herself is working on a new project for Amazon. These people are not getting any less busy!

In terms of story, there’s clearly enough there to have something happen. Specifically, we’re talking about those famous words at the end of the episode and (SPOILER ALERT) Rory making it clear that she is pregnant. This is easily something that the show could play on and work with for future episodes.

Note that none of this is a guarantee in the slightest that the show will be coming back, and the last thing that we want to say in this moment is to take anything for granted. If there is more Gilmore Girls, that would be tremendous. However, we’re still tremendously lucky to have more of the show than we ever thought possible a few years ago.
