NCIS season 14, episode 17 preview: ‘What Lies Above’ creepiness
Based on what we are seeing at the moment, this looks all sorts of creepy. After all, we’ve got McGee and Gibbs doing an interrogation to a convicted criminal, someone who has a connection to McGee’s apartment. This is a chance for us to get to know his life outside of working with the team, which sounds very much exciting on paper.
However, we have a feeling that in practice, this is far from excited for Sean Murray’s character. Who wants to see their apartment taken apart because of something that a previous occupant did? This action will be what kicks off the action in the episode. McGee will come home to see what happened to said apartment, and how at the center of it will be a robber who is trying to find something that the convict / ex-owner hid there. When the team actually finds this object, let’s just say that it could surprise everyone.
So beyond the McGee story, what can you expect to see in the episode? Let’s just say that Congresswoman Jenna Flemming is going to be returning for a story that could have to do with Leon Vance’s future both with the NCIS team and potentially in politics. Maybe this, in turn, could end up being tied to questions as to whether or not Gibbs will end up continuing to work with the team directly in the field. There are questions surrounding if we could ever seen him transfer over to a higher position, and maybe this episode is the beginning of that.
No matter what happens, the one thing that we do know is that this episode should be one that gives you a combination of everything that you could want from an NCIS installment: A powerful, original case, but then an opportunity to also learn valuable things about core characters. We’ll see what happens when it airs.
