Better Call Saul season 3 promo: Mike’s message reenters the picture
“Don’t.” That one word is at the center of the latest Better Call Saul season 3 promo, and they are an immediate cause for excitement. After all, where else are you going to get this excited about a note with a single word on it? It’s strange, but strange is what this show does!
We don’t think that this new Mike-centric preview gives a whole lot away when it comes to story content, but it does do a great job of getting us ridiculously hyped up for everything that could be coming over the course of the third season. Just remember for a moment or two here that this note was likely left by Gus Fring, and it’s already confirmed that Giancarlo Esposito is returning. This season could be the beginning of the Mike / Gus partnership that carries over into Breaking Bad.
Do we think that there was a case to bringing Gus onto the show even sooner than the producers did? Absolutely, given that the character is so iconic. With that being said, we do very much know and understand why they chose to wait as long as they did. After all, you do just need to remember that we needed to see Mike’s journey from who he was after arriving in New Mexico to who he ended up becoming. This is not something that happened overnight, and it was something that he became after a lengthy journey, one that involved a lot of guilt and consequence. This was a fun journey to watch unfold, but a painful one at the same time since we don’t think that Mike wanted to be working for some criminal underworld. He just wants to ensure that his granddaughter has a better life. Unlike Walter White, we don’t think he does it so much because he “likes it” — though that may just be our own interpretation of things.
Rest assured, there will be plenty more Better Call Saul coverage as we get closer to the premiere.
