Arrow season 5 spoilers: Felicity plays with fire, gets burned; Prometheus clues
Through much of Arrow season 5, there’s been a chance to witness a Felicity Smoak – Helix partnership blossom. She’s realized that using this organization is a benefit to her and her team. They’re on the fringe of the dark web, and they’ve been able to help her access information that she wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
Unfortunately, here’s the problem when you team up with a morally ambiguous organization such as this: You get burned. This could be happening with Emily Bett Rickards’ character sooner rather than later. On the upcoming March 15 episode of the series “Checkmate,” Felicity may realize the full extent of the consequences of working with Helix. They want her to do a favor for them, and if she doesn’t do them, that could sever the connection. Not only that, but the ramifications could be even worse.
Sooner or later, you knew that this was coming. Anytime you morally compromise yourself on this show, it comes back to bite you. After all, much of the origins of Prometheus stem from Oliver’s own actions at the start of the series.
Speaking of Prometheus…
One of the other major story threads in this episode is going to be getting an opportunity to figure out a few more things out. Oliver will make some steps forward to resolving who this character is. That doesn’t mean that you’ll get your answer here, though, since the show seems to be in no hurry to unmask the character.
For the record, we do think that the lengthy wait on the Prometheus reveal does give credence to the Tommy Merlyn rumor, though on some level this could be the show’s writers / producers using the rumor to their advantage. They may have another plan, and this could be some glorious misdirection. Honestly, we’re okay with the wait so long as the reveal is worth it. Part of the intrigue behind Prometheus, at least at present, is that we don’t know very much at all about who it is.
