MacGyver episode 18 preview: The ‘Hawaii Five-0’ crossover is here!
For those looking forward to MacGyver episode 18 just by default, there’s a little bit of something else you should remember: This is the Hawaii Five-0 crossover event that you’ve been so excited to see! The two shows (which share a night and an executive producer in Peter M. Lenkov) are going to come together — at least to a certain extent — for a fun hour of television.
A few notes here before we share the synopsis. First, don’t expect every series-regular from Five-0 to be appearing here (hence “to a certain extent”), as there are only three who are currently confirmed: Daniel Dae Kim (Chin), Grace Park (Kono), and Taylor Wily (Kamekona). If anyone else shows up, it will be a surprise. Also, this entire crossover is limited mostly to this episode, so don’t expect anything to bleed over to Five-0 afterwards or any other night. This is going to be fairly isolated, and based on the aforementioned synopsis, the Phoenix Foundation actually won’t be coming to the islands in order to help with the case. They’re just going to discover one in the process.
Synopsis – “When Mac and the team travel to Hawaii to aid in earthquake relief efforts, they team up with Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Kono (Grace Park) from the Five-0 task force to rescue a group of government scientists trapped in a building. However, as they work on the complicated rescue, a group using the chaos as a distraction aims to steal the top-secret weaponry from the scientists, on a special crossover episode.”
We really like the idea of seeing someone like Jack interact with Kono, just as we hope that there are going to be some opportunities to see Chin react to Mac’s unconventional ways of doing things out in the field. There are a lot of things to like about this story on paper, so we have to wait and see what happens when it actually airs! (For the record, there’s one other bit of news that you can enjoy — the official title for the finale.)
