‘Billions’ season 2 premiere: Be prepared for drama — and references galore
The season 2 premiere of “Billions” is going to be coming your way on Showtime Sunday night, and if there’s one thing that you should know about the story going into it, it’s this: The story’s going to remain as crazy as ever. Also, there are probably going to be a vast multitude of references.
The new video HERE is all about movie quotes in its own right, as you get the sense that this is a part of the language that Bobby Axelrod and many of the folks at Axe Capital like to speak with. You have to remember that these are guys who feel as though they have no real equals in the world, and with that, they may choose to create their own equal when it comes to various movie references or some other nonsense that really runs around that path. They want to feel like they are gods, and the gods of cinema are a way in which they can find their equivalent.
In some ways, it also makes sense given how so many of them sit atop a throne of fiction, one constructed based on corruption, lies, and greed. Maybe there are some within this world of Wall Street who are every bit as good as they profess themselves to be — and then there are those like Axe who deliberately try to exploit 9/11 for money while putting on a good face.
While season 1 of the series was largely about watching Chuck Rhoades and his quest to take Bobby down a peg (or put him behind bars), be prepared to see the tables very much turn moving into the second season. Axe is going to be out for some vengeance, and he’ll probably do just about everything that he possibly can in order to get it. Rhoades certainly is a guy with his own skeletons, and in the wake of everything that happened with Wendy on this past season of the show, he’s probably also someone with a certain thirst for revenge.
