‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Alec Baldwin, Cecily Strong check out Ed Sheeran’s Donald Trump impression

SNL -Tonight, “Saturday Night Live” is bringing you a new episode virtually like no other, given that you’re going to have a chance to see Alec Baldwin actually host the show. Okay, so technically it’s like a TON of other shows over the years, given that Baldwin has hosted more than anyone in the history of the series. Still, you get our drift, no? The idea here is that it’s a rather big deal in an post-Donald Trump impression era that we get to have more of him beyond just a single sketch or two.

The promo below is your last bit of preparation for this weekend’s show, which features Baldwin alongside cast member Cecily Strong and also musical guest Ed Sheeran, who shows off a Trump impression of his own. It’s short, but it’s pretty accurate. (For the record, we feel like everyone has a Trump impression at this point.)

One of the strangest things about Alec hosting this particular episode is that if you think about it, it’s actually been a quieter week for the President — at least in comparison to some of his others. (For any other President, this would be the most insane week in human history.)

In general, we expect this to be a lively, interesting show with Baldwin trying a number of different things, and it wouldn’t really surprise us if Sheeran were to appear in a sketch, either. We do know that the show does love to come up with ideas that have a certain degree of viral potential, and he is extremely popular online and has a number of fans who would probably come in droves in order to watch it after the fact. It would be one of the popular non-Trump “SNL” sketches that the show comes up with this year! (Hey, they know their bread and butter, and it is allowing them to have some killer ratings.)
