‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8, episode 13 preview: Chris Wood returns as Kai

Kai -There are only four episodes left of “The Vampire Diaries” until the show is at an end, and the idea of that is rather depressing itself. This thought may be accelerated even more when you think for a minute about how desperate many characters are right not — not to mention sad. Bonnie Bennett, for examples, continues to be tormented in one way or another. As you may recall, earlier this season we saw Enzo die; now, we’re going to see Cade embark on a little bit of a torture session with her.

Above everything else, though, one of the things that should leave you shaking in your boots at the moment is the return of Chris Wood as Kai, which is happening on next week’s new episode entitled “The Lies Are Going to Catch Up with You.” Wood somehow found the time in the midst of filming “Supergirl” to come down to Atlanta, and you’ll get to see some of the fruits of his labor here. Remember, though, Kai is not the sort of guy you want to see if you’re ANY of these characters; instead, he’s one of the most infamous villains to ever appear on the show.

Synopsis – “Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matt Davis) come face to face with an old enemy after they obtain a weapon that may be able to destroy Cade. Stefan (Paul Wesley) is held captive by a surprising acquaintance and is forced to confront a dark secret from his past. Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice King) and Matt (Zach Roerig) try to keep Stefan’s violent history from destroying him. Cade (guest star Wolé Parks) focuses his attention on Bonnie (Kat Graham) and digs deep into her mind.”

Because Wood is a series-regular elsewhere, it does feel fair to say that you’re only going to get a chance to see so much of him on the show; however, at the same time we expect the show to make the most of every moment. He’s too interesting an adversary to not relish just about every second in which you end up having him onscreen.
