With the midseason premiere of “The Walking Dead” airing on AMC Sunday night, there’s a few reasons to be excited — especially when it comes to the idea of unity. Much of the group will be back together again (except for poor Eugene who is likely chained up somewhere on Negan’s compound making bullets for him), and the same can be said for many of the different communities who are all being pushed around by Negan and the Saviors.
One of the big questions is how Rick will get all of these people to work together, and what the role of each one of them could be. While the new video below featuring showrunner Scott M. Gimple does not necessarily give you a great deal of answers, we do still think that this is a fun one that reminds us that everyone from Oceanside to The Kingdom is out there and probably fed up with being threatened every day. It’s a good primer for those of you who are starting to lose some of your recollection as to what actually happened on the show the last time that it was on the air.
The biggest name that he drops here continues to be Oceanside, mostly for one reason: The implications that this community could end up being the resource for guns, and the potential game-changer for the rest of the universe. Bringing these characters into play could be tremendously interesting given their reluctance to have anyone know about their whereabouts, and Rick Grimes could in turn force them into some sort of action rather than just sitting idly by. They are the community with the potential of making the biggest difference in the world that we know.
As for whether or not that ends up happening, the great news is that we’re going to know in just a few days! This has been a long wait, but things are about to kick back into high gear. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Rick as his former self and it’s something we’ve all been wanting to see.
