‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10, episode 15 preview: Sheldon the train man

Big Bang Theory -Is Sheldon Cooper leaving the world of physics … for the world of trains? Thursday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory” wants you to, at the very least, consider the possibility that something like this could be going down.

The sneak peek that we’ve got for you below from this episode features Jim Parsons’ character transformed into some odd contemporary industrialist, determined to live the life of a train-man while still in apartment walls. What’s going on here? Let’s backtrack for a minute. Remember, Leonard, he, and Howard have been working together on a government project since the start of the season, and they are operating under a tight timeframe. As a result of that, Howard and Leonard are going to look for a way to distract Sheldon, whose brilliance is offset at various times by his desire to have his voice heard and be a nuisance.

Therefore, the whole train idea seems to be something that Sheldon was pushed into as a distraction, but the problem is that over time, he starts to become obsessed with the hobby and starts to become a completely different sort of distraction. We feel for anyone who tries to talk him out of this, given that the train has (seemingly) left the station on this one.

Eventually, we do envision Sheldon getting back into physics, though, mostly because this is not a show that goes for dramatic character swings — also, it’s funnier that way in the long-term. Having characters undergo drastic changes for an episode here or there does tend to make for some great enjoyment, even if it is short-lived. We’ve seen Raj do this in the past, and a lot of this stems from a desire to try living in a different skin, given that for these geeks, it’s not always easy being in the one that they are in.
