Netflix notes: ‘Orange is the New Black’ premiere date; Bill Nye’s return; ‘The OA,’ ‘Love’ renewed
Netflix is holding an event today in New York City, and with that, we’ve got announcements aplenty from them in terms of some of what is coming up.
Let’s begin with this: “Orange is the New Black” officially has a premiere date! You can expect to see the series officially coming up now starting on Friday, June 9, just in case you want to plan when to take off from work a little bit early. This is a show that is already renewed for another couple of years, so there’s really no need to fear for its immediate future.
As for some other big news, Netflix also renewed a pain of other series! “The OA” is going to be coming back for a second season — or as they are calling it, “Part II.” (This one makes us happy, though if we’re being honest we still don’t 100% understand everything that happened on “The OA” during the first season.) Meanwhile, you’re also going to see a third season of “Love.” This is a good bit of news for a company that already made one big reveal a little bit earlier this week, when they first released the trailer for the upcoming “Iron Fist.”
If you haven’t seen the trailer just yet, we do think that it is rather excellent, though at the same time there are some easy parallels that you can draw between it and another superhero show in “Arrow.”
Elsewhere, we’ve also got the first trailer below for “Bill Nye Saves the World,” which is his new follow-up to “Bill Nye the Science Guy.” It’s going to feel a good bit like the show you once knew, but at the same time feature a live audience at times and some great celebrity guests — including Donald Faison, Zach Braff, Joel McHale, and Rachel Bloom.
Basically, there’s a lot to look forward to if you’ve got a Netflix subscription, and it doesn’t matter so much if you love comedy, drama, or anything in between. All you need is a subscription and there’s a pretty good shot that you’re going to be happy in the end.
