TV Quick Hits: ‘Veep,’ ‘Orphan Black’ premiere dates; ‘The Insider’ canceled; ‘The Americans’ season 5 trailer

There are a lot of different headlines worth getting into in this edition of our TV Quick Hits series, but let’s start here by focusing on one of the most important things that can exist for any show — premiere dates!

Let’s kick things off here with “Veep,” given that the Julia Louis-Dreyfus show is now confirmed to be coming back to HBO on Sunday, April 16 at 10:30 p.m. Eastern time. There will once again be ten episodes, and we’re particularly excited this time to see where the writers take the show given that Selina Meyer is not actually in office for the first time in the series’ run.

Also, “Orphan Black” is confirmed to be airing its final season on BBC America starting on Saturday, June 10 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time.

As for some of the other big news of the day…

“The Insider” is done – While at one point this was one of the premier entertainment news-magazines out there, it’s now confirmed to be going the way of the dodo. Deadline first reported the news, which saddens us mostly because this is a tough business and we never want to see entertainment reporters not have their platform any longer. This was a show that unfortunately went through many different attempts to improve declining ratings, and none of them produced the necessarily boost in order to keep the show on the air.

“The Americans” trailer – Just in case you’re not excited enough for the FX series to be coming back on the air, we’ve now for the latest trailer for you below! We’re now precisely one month away from the new season starting, and with each passing year you get more of a sense of just how much the walls are closing in for these characters. The great thing about “The Americans” is that you know you’re getting one thing above all else in quality, and you also know that you’re getting it in spades.

Lady Gaga’s next TV appearance – Finally, know that the “Bad Romance” singer will be gracing the upcoming season 9 premiere of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” as a guest judge. Not bad for a fun follow-up to the Super Bowl gig, no?

As always, we want to read some of your thoughts on these stories below!
