‘Bones’ season 12 spoilers: More news on Ryan O’Neal’s return

For those of you who like it when “Bones” explores the past of its main characters, the upcoming February 14 episode of the show entitled “The Scare in the Score” is going to provide that; yet, at the same time, we have to warn you now that it is also going to provide quite a few difficult moments.

First, let’s focus on the case at the center of the episode. A number of bodies are going to start to appear around the Washington DC area, and the troubling thing about this is that many of them are going to have ties to Booth’s old Army unit. This is the sort of thing that is going to give him pause, but also make him realize that he could be in danger himself. Therefore, he’s going to have to roam around the area in order to find the killer before he ends up getting killed himself.

On a more personal note, Ryan O’Neal is going to return in this episode as Brennan’s father Max, but will be at the center of a difficult and emotional story. He will hide a “serious medical procedure” from her daughter, and that is going to generate a strong reaction from her as she struggles to trust her father, while at the same time be fearful for his life. No matter what happens over the course of the episode, we do have a feeling that this is something that could remain in her psyche for some time to come.

In looking beyond just this episode, let’s go ahead and give you one other bit of scoop: For those of you wondering when Eddie McClintock is going to make his along-awaited debut as Brennan’s ex Sully, know this: He’ll be turning up on the upcoming episode of the show airing on Tuesday, February 21. Brennan’s reaction to seeing him could be part of the suspense.
