‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Hercules’ grad Kevin Sorbo to play villain; who could it be?

Supergirl -

One day after “Supergirl” announced that former “Desperate Housewives” and “Lois & Clark” star Teri Hatcher was cast to be a Big Bad moving forward this season, we’ve now received some other news: Kevin Sorbo’s going to have a big role of his own!

The CW confirmed that former “Hercules” and “Andromeda” star will be recurring over the remainder of season 2; however, they declined to say much more. The only official comment comes from a statement via show executive producer Andrew Kreisberg:

“Since his days as Hercules, Kevin Sorbo has brought such a strong presence to the screen and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join us on ‘Supergirl.'”

There are already some theories that are floating around out there, with the prevailing one in our mind being that Sorbo and Hatcher’s characters are the two aliens who are tracking down Mon-El, and who could also turn out to be his parents. That’s just our conjecture, but in terms of ages and in terms of where the story is right now, it seems like a fairly educated guess to make. This is a story that the show has to pay off in some way, and if the parents are on Earth, odds are that they’ll have their own array of powers.

Meanwhile, you have to remember that not everyone on Mon-El’s home world takes to Krypton or its residents all that nicely.

Regardless of who they’re playing, it is fairly nice to see so many nostalgic faces come into this show, especially when you think about how the producers have already found ways to use people like Dean Cain, Laura Vandervoort, and Helen Slater on this show. They even threw in a nice little moment for Melissa Benosit and Brandon Routh when the four-way crossover happened with the Dominators over the fall.

New episodes of “Supergirl” are going to continue airing Monday nights on The CW. For now, be sure to let us know some of your thoughts regarding Sorbo’s casting, and be sure to head over to the link here if you’re interested in reading more about the recent Hatcher announcement. (Photo: The CW.)
