‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13, episode 11 preview: Richard’s strategy session

Grey's 0

Who knew that Richard Webber on “Grey’s Anatomy” was such a master strategist? After watching the sneak peek below, we’re pretty darn sure that we don’t want to see him in a game of Risk.

This preview features Webber doing what he can to formulate a new plan against Eliza Minnick, the woman who is currently attempting to reform the teaching programs at the Grey Sloan Memorial — and also the woman who is taking Webber’s place. He determines that one of the best ways to undermine her is to take over the operating room, and keep her from really getting in there and doing anything to stand in his way.

So how are the other doctors feeling about this? Let’s say torn, and understandably so. They want to support Richard, since they value him and everything that he’s done for the hospital. However, at the same time they’re also very well aware of the fact that Bailey has already handed a massive vote of confidence to Minnick for her to come in and do her job. Jackson makes it abundantly clear as to why this puts him in a difficult position — he has tremendous respect for Bailey, and realizes that with her being the first ever black woman chief of the hospital, he doesn’t want to do anything to undermine her. Richard’s counter to that is that this is a ploy against Minnick rather than one against Bailey.

Where Jackson stands in this debate is going to be one of the integral components to this episode. In a way, we do feel for Minnick given that she is just trying to do her job in making over the hospital. If there are problems, shouldn’t they be fixed? Her issue is that the way she goes about it is heartless, and she’s surrounded by people with tremendous hearts who have been through a lot together over the years. She’s not considering that.
