‘NCIS’ season 14 spoilers: First news on ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ crossover

NCIS -Valentine’s Day is hopefully going to be a chance for many of you out there to celebrate love and romance. Beyond that, it’s also going to be a chance to check out the latest crossover between the flagship “NCIS” show and the “New Orleans” spin-off.

“Pandora’s Box” is the title for the upcoming crossover, and based on some early indications, one of the most interesting things that we’re going to be seeing is a case that puts several different characters into jeopardy. Here are the just-released synopses, courtesy of CBS. (For the record, “New Orleans” will be airing at its normal time — we speculated previously if it and “Bull” could be swapped for the crossover.)

Part I – “After Abby’s homeland security think tank is compromised and she is found in possession of a real bomb, the NCIS team discovers the leader of the group has been murdered and a theoretical terror playbook has been stolen.”

Part 2 – “NCIS agents McGee and Torres travel to New Orleans to partner with Pride and his team in the search for a missing homeland security theoretical terror playbook.”

So why is this playbook so valuable? Well, if it falls into the wrong hands, then potential terrorists would be able to telegraph almost every single move that the team was to make. We don’t have to tel you just how dangerous this could be to their safety, let alone the safety of the entire country.

On a logistical level, we’re not shocked that this crossover seems to be mostly based in the second episode than the first — the two shows film in different cities, which likely makes it more challenging to get everyone together in the same spot. Also, not linking them as much in terms of various characters hopping onto each show is a way to better ensure that they play well in syndication.

Yesterday, we wrote that LeVar Burton had just finished directing an upcoming episode of the “New Orleans” series. Now, we have confirmation that this episode is “Pandora’s Box: Part II.” Given that this show is airing in less than three weeks, that further proves that this is a show with a very quick turn around in production.
