‘Shadowhunters’ season 2, episode 5 preview: Will Clary bring her mom back?

Shadowhunters -Reviving characters is always a tricky proposition. It’s not something that is altogether common for shows to do, but when it does, it tends to open a can of words and a wide array of problems. In theory, you want to believe that such an action is going to bring back the person that you lost and loved. Unfortunately, it rarely ever works out that way. More often than not, we tend to just see people end up being disappointed and hurt.

On next week’s new episode of “Shadowhunters,” we’re going to see Clary be forced into making some big, complicated decisions — and her mother is going to be at the center of them.

Synopsis – “After the recent attack on the Institute, the Shadowhunters are left devastated and wounded. Trying to regroup, each of the Shadowhunters deals with the situation their own way. Meanwhile, Simon moves home but finds it is not so easy to pull off his new life with his family around.”

The promo below does a great job of making some of the stakes clear, and Clary is warned that trying to revolve her mom may bring someone back who is not in any way like her old self. Will that deter her at all? Not necessarily. We’ll admit that we’re not the most familiar with the source material, but in moments like this, we’re grateful for this since it allows us to see this character on a knife’s edge, teetering between what she may want to do and what is actually right to do. One wrong move, and she does more than just jeopardize her own future — she jeopardizes everyone around her.

As we get further and further into the season, the last indication that we have is that things are only going to get darker and darker from here. Be concerned…
