‘Supernatural’ season 12 spoilers: The quest to save Castiel

CastielWhat do you do when an angel is in danger? It feels like the answer here goes without saying: You do whatever you can in order to save them! “Supernatural” promised that there would be some big episodes coming for Castiel in the second part of season 12, and we’re getting the first indication of that in the details released for “Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets,” the upcoming February 2 installment of the show. (Isn’t this a particularly artsy title for this show? We kind of like it, just as we always do when they think outside the box.)

Per The CW, here’s what we know: Alicia Witt (“The Walking Dead”) is going to be stopping by as the powerful, vengeful title character, who’s spent effectively over a hundred years doing everything that she can to prepare to take down the angels responsible for killing her family. Was Misha Collins’ character among the group? Signs point to him being at least involved, given that in this episode, Sam and Dean are going to find themselves in a position where they’ve got to lend a helping hand. Otherwise, their favorite angel-friend could find himself pushing daisies (we love that expression just because we loved that show).

Anytime, there’s a Castiel episode, we’re going to be happy given that Collins is one of our favorite TV people both on and off-screen; with that said, we’re even more satisfied when we’re getting a Castiel episode that also finds a good way to rope in the Winchesters. The central idea here seems to do that, and we also love the cyclical nature of this; the brothers are going to try to save him just one week after we could see Castiel and Mary Winchester team up to do something similar in the January 26 winter premiere. Remember, Sam and Dean are going to be in government possession!

May we remind you know that “Supernatural” is going to be airing at a new time in 8:00 p.m. Eastern for the immediate future? It feels like something that’s going to be easy to forget, so we’re going to be doing that a few more times before we get back to being on the air.
