‘Better Call Saul’ season 3 to premiere April 10

Better Call Saul season 3For everyone out there excited to finally see “Better Call Saul” back on the air, we come bearing some great news: The apparent season 3 premiere date! Now, here’s the bad news: As you may have suspected, you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer than usual.

In a post on Twitter, Pieter J. Ketelaar revealed that the new batch of episodes is going to be starting up on Monday, April 10 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. It’s the same timeslot as the previous two seasons, but a little bit later in the spring. This is a timeslot that we’ve seen AMC use more for some other programs as of late, but they’ve decided this time around to give the Bob Odenkirk series a spotlight here as opposed to February or March.

Why in the world do this? We presume that much of it just has to do with ensuring that the show is ready, though there could be a scheduling advantage that comes along with it. Come the second or third week of May, the majority of the season finales are going to be off the air on network TV. All of a sudden, the schedule for “Better Call Saul” could open up and give it a little more of an opportunity for live ratings. It’s not that we think the show really needs them given its live ratings (plus DVR and streaming), but it definitely doesn’t hurt!

Here’s the worst kind of irony with this news: We’re learning about the premiere date being later in the year right when we were more excited about the future of the than we’ve been in an incredibly long time. The third season is going to be featuring the apparent return of Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring, and if that wasn’t exciting enough in the first place, consider this: Jimmy’s also getting arrested! We’ve seen the teaser videos out there of him getting arrested, and you have to assume that this is the next component in the road to get him closer to becoming Saul Goodman once and for all.

Excited to learn the premiere date, even if we’re talking about something so far down the road? Be sure to share below! Once there is some further news on the series, we’re going to have it for you here. (Photo: AMC.)
