‘Girl Meets World’ season 3 finale spoilers: The possible series finale ‘Girl Meets Goodbye’

Girl Meets World -Girl Meets World” fans, get out your hankies: We’re getting really close to the end of the road.

Tonight, the Disney Channel is airing the show’s penultimate episode “Girl Meets Sweet Sixteen,” an installment that introduces what may be the story at the center of “Girl Meets Goodbye”: Topanga having a job opportunity overseas in London. It’s a chance for her to make a leap forward in her career, but at the same time it could also mean an enormous change in her and her family’s life. It’s a huge decision, and one that should not be made lightly.

For “Girl Meets Goodbye,” you are going to get a chance to see many familiar characters both from this show and “Boy Meets World,” as many returning favorites are going to come in and help the Matthews family with this decision — if they decide to leave, maybe they are also going to be there to help send them off. Back when this episode was first written, there was a sentiment that this could be the series finale. Therefore, it should have some sort of feeling of closure.

As for whether or not it will be the final episode of the series, that is something still up for debate. As of right now, it is — the Disney Channel has formally canceled the show. However, creator Michael Jacobs confirmed recently that there are talks to bring the show back elsewhere, but we should stress that these are EARLY conversations and it’s far too early to know one way or another if will turn into anything. The best thing that you can do if you want to save the show is continue to fight hard to get the show more attention, and to let parties like Netflix know that you’re interested in getting more stories featuring these beloved characters. If all of this happens, then maybe the show’s got a good shot.

In the event that it is brought back elsewhere, odds are that it will still be a while until more new episodes air — think summer at the earliest, or potentially even fall. If this is Netflix, it could be winter since they like to premiere the entire season at one time. It would need to be done with production and post-production first for all episodes.
