‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8, episode 8 preview: The dark Damon and Stefan are officially back
After a lengthy holiday break, the eighth season of “The Vampire Diaries” will be returning to The CW with new episodes starting Friday night. Judging from the new sneak peek below, things are about to get a little bit crazy.
In this sneak peek, you get a chance to see Damon and Stefan in their most nefarious forms. The ripper side of Stefan’s personality is back; as for Damon, well, he turned off that humanity switch a while back and is more or less a monster. The two are fulfilling the duties set out by Cade at the end of the first part of the season, and one of them includes torturing the heck out of some sap who admits that he would rather see everyone around him die than be a martyr and save them all.
Is this the perfect soul to drag down to hell? It seems possible, that’s for sure. The setting for this seems to be an anger management group, however, which is an interesting place for them to be. Often, in order to be at one of these groups, you have to have done something wrong at some point in your past — at the same time, agreeing to get help for what is ailing you is a sign of personal growth and improvement.
As for what else is going to be coming up, Sybil’s still alive, for one; not only that, but she’s going to be recruiting a new group who she will try to influence in order to do her bidding at the expense of Caroline.
There are many different reasons to be excited for this “Vampire Diaries” episode, starting of course with the fact that this is another episode of a show you love! Beyond that, this is the writers establishing what could be the beginning of the end, and Ian Somerhalder getting to step once more into the director’s chair. It’s a position that both he and co-star Paul Wesley have cut their teeth on over the past several years, and it’s a skill that they can take with them into other projects.
