‘The Leftovers’ season 3 photo: One major change for Kevin Garvey

Leftovers -

The third season of “The Leftovers” is going to be coming your way on HBO this April, and given that details are for the most part rather scarce, we are grateful to share just about everything that we can. This includes the first photo from the new season above.

This image comes to us courtesy of IndieWire, and this image effectively shows Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) and Nora Durst (Carrie Coon) in positions of some authority. Kevin is now working with the locale police in Jarden, which does make some sense given his employment history, while Nora is with the DSD. these two characters are going to be doing what they can to navigate their lives in the midst of tremendous trauma, most notably the latest attack that unfolded at the end of season 2 when the Guilty Remnant decided to bring a lit a bit of destruction to Miracle National Park.

The one thing that is missing from this photo is any reference at all to Australia. As you may recall, some early scoop that is out there for the upcoming season notes that at some point during the upcoming episodes, we are going to see Kevin and many of the other characters move all the way to the other side of the world. Kevin’s father will have a far greater role in the story, and that is just the tip of the iceberg most likely for what happens there.

Specifics remain unclear for the rest of the final season, given the people involved here, including executive producer Damon Lindelof of “Lost,” we expect nothing else than an intellectual, thought-provoking, and surprising end to the story that makes you ask just as many questions as it answers. We’ve said this before, but you are really watching the wrong show at this point if you got into “The Leftovers” hoping that at some point along the way, someone was going to offer up further information on what happened with the Departure.
