‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7, episode 15 review: Kamekona’s workers stage a shrimp truck revolt
Last time on “Hawaii Five-0” we saw Steve go to get his driver’s license renewed (since he let it expire and has been driving around without one) and instead scared the daylights out of his driving tester. This also give Danny a small heart attack thinking that Grace is going to be on the road with Steve in two years. Speaking of Grace…
We haven’t heard much about Will and Grace’s relationship since the dance, but tonight we are getting an update! These two are joined at the hip and when they aren’t together in person, they are on their phones constantly chatting with each other. Could Lou’s worry about Grace taking Will away from his studies actually be happening? We don’t think so, but it could bring this issue back up on Lou’s radar… that is if he can take himself away from trolling Chin about how much better his pancake skills are.
Kamekona is having a bit of a crisis with his workers as they are striking against him and picketing in front of his shrimp truck. Not only are his workers driving away all of his business, but it’s creating a pretty bad rift between Kamekona and his cousin who wants fair wages and to no longer have to dress up as an elf at Christmas. How can Kamekona not bend to these demands – no one wants to dress up as an elf and sell shrimp! He tries to bring in the 5-0 team to help get this under control, but they aren’t willing to help (they won’t even cross the picket line to buy some shrimp). The most Kamekona is getting from them is an apology from Lou about mentioning the word “union” to Kamekona’s workers a few months back. Finally Kamekona sits down with his cousin to work out a deal, saying that he will make his cousin a manager and give him his own truck to work up on the North shore as well as a small pay bump for everyone. Everyone’s happy!
We rarely get episodes with a Kamekona story front and center so this was a real treat for us. “Hawaii Five-o” is one of those rare shows that finds a nice balance between a good crime story (this week it was all about sharks) and humor. There are a lot of serious crime shows out there if you want to get some dark, creepy cases, but few that can give you an interesting case and a few laughs. We will be chuckling about Lou trolling Chin’s pancake skills all week. Episode grade: B+
