‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: Black Flash returns — as for Teddy Sears…

Black Flash -

We knew that there would be a few surprises from TCA today when when it comes to “The Flash,” but we have to say that this is in particular one announcement that we did not see coming. Black Flash is officially coming back!

If you remember, this character was “born” at the end of season 2 when Zoom was dispatched and taken away by the Time Wraiths — in the process, though, he saw his body transformed into a creature similar to the Black Flash character from the comics. It had never been specifically confirmed until now. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg makes it clear (per Entertainment Weekly) that the version of the character that they are bringing to the series is one that is similar to the comic role:

“He will [be] the classic comic book Grim Reaper aspect … It’s just going to be on multiple shows. He’s a classic character and we have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him return. There’s something so scary about him, even scarier than when he was just a man because now he is the Grim Reaper, he is like the Devil. How do you stop the Devil? It presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears.”

With this said, Kreisberg also was unsure at present if they would be able to get Teddy Sears to return to play the part, given that he is currently a regular over on “24: Legacy.” We do figure that if the schedules work out, they would love to have him back; however, we also think that given the physical transformation of the part, you don’t necessarily need him in order to pull this off. It gives the show a little bit of flexibility.

If you missed it, there are two other “Flash”-related announcements today that we have a feeling you are going to want to see.

1. The show’s coming back for a fourth season!

2. The Music Meister is officially going to be the villain for the upcoming “Supergirl” musical crossover.
