Ratings: ‘The Mick,’ ‘Ransom’ premiere numbers; ‘Pure Genius,’ ‘Conviction’ fall

Even though Sunday night may have technically been a holiday, there was surprisingly quite a bit on the air when it comes to new programming — though to be fair, some of it was of the “networks trying to burn off shows that they aren’t intending to bring back” variety. We’ll get to that more in just a moment as we work to get through here network by network.

ABC – “The Bachelor” aired a “Countdown to Nick” special on the night, but it didn’t really do a whole lot on its way to a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demograhpic. While that’s far from miserable, we also have a feeling that the network probably was hoping for a 1.0 at least. “To Tell the Truth” followed this up with a 0.7, while “Conviction,” airing for the first time on Sunday, drew an anemic 0.4 that further confirms that this is not a show that there are intentions for the network to bring back in the future.

CBS – The special premiere of “Ransom,” a show that the network is actually going to be moving off to Saturdays, ended up drawing a 0.9 rating. That’s not bad for a Canadian drama that is mostly going to be stuck on Saturdays for the season. It is better than “Pure Genius,” which slipped to a 0.8 — but we don’t think that this is actually all that bad when you remember that this was not the show’s normal night, and that this was a holiday. It could’ve been worse.

Fox – The only other network with new programming, and one where “The Mick” (2.4) ended up getting some solid sampling on the night. Meanwhile, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” averaged a solid 1.3 for its final two episodes of the winter. It’ll be back a little later in the spring, where it will try to resolve that crazy cliffhanger involving the Gina character. This is at least a nice way to end for the time being!

Tonight, “The Bachelor” premieres proper, and we’ll get a chance to see that alongside the return of “Scorpion” and the premiere of “The Celebrity Apprentice.” We’ll be back tomorrow to speak out further on the ratings for all of them!
