‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ spotlight: Will Carrie Keagan create some boardroom buzz?
We’re still in the process of doing two “Celebrity Apprentice” spotlights a day leading up to the premiere on Monday, and today, we’re wrapping things up (after profiling Matt Iseman) by doing the same thing to Carrie Keagan! Admittedly, we don’t know her work as well as some of the other people on this season, but she has a lot of qualities that some past winners of the show have had and with that, she’s probably going to be interesting to watch this season.
We’ll say this right away: Humor could be one of her greatest assets, given that there are not too many other women on her team with a significant amount of comedy background.
Claim to Fame – Former co-host of “Big Morning Buzz Live” on VH1, and has since hosted her own show in “Up Close with Carrie Keagan,” where she offers up a lot of uncensored video content featuring a wide array of A-list talent. She’s appeared on “Reno 911!,” is an author, and has done a wide array of hosting jobs in between. She’s also appeared on several different Mark Burnett productions over the years, which may be in part why this show was a perfect fit for her.
Charity – The Humane Society of the United States. Love the charity, and as an animal lover, we appreciate what this group does to help animals in need immensely. We have a rescue cat of our own.
Strengths – If you need a host or someone to be the face of your presentation, Keagan’s probably more qualified for that than almost anyone else in the entire cast. She’s someone who can come up with ideas and implement them, which should prove super-valuable in many of the creative tasks. She’s got experience in creating something out of nothing, which is not something every celebrity out there has. She’s also done so many things over the course of her career that there is a certain degree of versatility to what she brings to the table.
Weaknesses – This one’s hard to read, just because as mentioned, we don’t know as much about her as some other people on this season. Therefore, we’re not sure what her fundraising contact list is like — she’s spoken to countless celebrities, but does she have the numbers to call them up and ask for money? This is something that Leeza Gibbons was able to do on her way to beating Geraldo Rivera. Also, she may not have the face-recognition of some other people on her team like a Snooki, who you can throw out anywhere and use to bring in attention.
Prediction – It’s probably a cop-out to say that Keagan is a wild-card, but we feel like she is given that so much of her ability is still somewhat of a mystery to us. There’s a good chance that she comes out, kills it creatively, and makes it very far! However, there’s also a chance that she is overshadowed in a fundraising task or has a creative move go awry and is gone within the first several weeks. She’s hard to get a read on, but she should be interesting to watch.
