‘The X Factor’ UK: How is Honey G’s new single faring?

X factor -

While Honey G may have managed to get a lot of attention leading up to the launch of her new single “The Honey G Show,” at the same exact time attention does not exactly equal having a hit single in the slightest.

Some of the latest data is now out there about the song, and per Telly Mix, there is a good chance that the song doesn’t even hit the top 40 for the week. While it had a brief period of time in the top 10 on iTunes in the UK following its release, it quickly faded following that. Many people are probably now looking for ways to spend their iTunes gift cards, and are probably using them on songs from more popular artists — including some other acts with “X Factor” connections such as Little Mix or James Arthur.

We understand why Simon Cowell wanted to take a flier on Honey courtesy of a record deal, given that she was the talk of Britain for most of the year. However, there’s a difference between being popular and being discussed, and the sales now are a reflection of that given that she’s not getting streams on Spotify or attention from many other sources. Her loyal fans seem to be there, but that’s about it.

The good news for Cowell is that if he does want to move on, he can easily given that the deal for Honey G is only to produce singles, and there is not a commitment at present for anything more. As for her future, we still think she needs to establish some sort of point of view beyond just saying her own name a few dozen times in a song.
