Is ‘Saturday Night Live’ new tonight on NBC? Christmas, Hanukkah videos to watch

SNL -We definitely understand you wondering over the question in this title, mostly because “Saturday Night Live” is the sort of show that you want to watch at almost any time of the year, even in the waning hours of Christmas Eve going into Christmas Day.

However, given that Christmas is falling on a Sunday this year, NBC is actually not going to be airing a repeat of the holiday special or any other episode in this spot tonight. Instead, they will be broadcasting starting at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Midnight Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. It’s certainly very different tonally from “SNL,” but there’s a value to it for religious viewers who really want to get into touch with the original spirit of Christmas.

“SNL” will return with new episodes on January 14, where Felicity Jones is going to host the show with a performance from Sturgill Simpson. Beyond that, the lineup is currently uncertain.

For everyone else who wants to get into a little bit more of the holiday cheer, there’s always YouTube! The video below is always one of our favorites — this is the more recent version from when Jimmy Fallon hosted the show, but it’s absolutely worth watching again if you haven’t seen it in a while. We prefer this version just because it’s slightly better audio quality.

Of course, we also know that there are plenty of people out there who are celebrating Hanukkah, and with that we of course present the classic Andy Samberg song — easily one of the most famous numbers in the history of the show. We’ve probably listened to this about three million times at this point.
